Primarily my life consists of my pet supply retail store and my children, and photography lies in the hobby zone with aspirations of eventual grandeur.

In years past we have had serious photographers come in during the holidays to do pet photos with Santa. The turn out is moderate, but on the day every a year another place does pet photos with Santa and an old Polaroid camera. I think the perception of having a high profile photographer scares people away thinking it is going to cost a fortune.

This year in a moment of delusional confidence I said, “why don’t I do it?” The reality of it is starting to set in, and anxiety is a little high. Some people have the ability to jump in feet first and learn as they go. Unfortunately I am not a person who can do this easily. I am on a frenzy to cram as much technical information and experience into my next 30 days. Studying exif information on g+, 500px.com, flickr studio photos. Reading everthing Scott Kelby and Trey Ratcliff has ever written. Any other suggestions?

It’s not that I don’t think I can manage this two day event, I just want the customer to get something they can really be happy about.

Going to do as much trial studio work as I possibly can to get what I expect. Wish me luck.
